Race baiter extraordinaire, the Rev. Al Sharpton, is now pushing a false narrative about white supremacists going out and harassing Asian-Americans all over the country. It’s not white supremacists doing these horrible things. In fact, there was an incident where an Asian man was beat brutally on a New York subway while the suspect yelled, “You Asian motherf***er,” but it wasn’t white supremacists, but a 36-year-old black man.
According to the Washington Examiner, Sharpton recently devoted a whole 10 minute segment of his MSNBC show on Sunday to spreading the false myth of Asian-Americans being targeted by white supremacists. He quoted a recent “study” put out by the Anti-Defamation League that came to the conclusion that “white supremacist propaganda” being distributed across the country is fueling hatred for Asian Americans.
Problem for Sharpton is that the data on crimes against Asians tells a different story. According to FBI statistics, in 2019 black rate of hate crimes is 303% higher than the white rate for hate crimes against Asians/Pacific Island, Latino and LBGTQ communities. Sorry Al. Blacks are overrepresented as racists.
And Democratic Rep. Grace Meng mistakenly believes the same lie.
“Meng predictably attributed the supposed increase in anti-Asian animus to none other than former President Donald Trump. ‘Our former president wasted no opportunity to make sure that people that looked like … me knew that we weren’t American enough, and we weren’t good enough,’ she said,” The Washington Examiner reported.
“The idea that this is about white supremacy and that Trump caused it is a preposterous lie. That’s why, even though the liberals at CNN and MSNBC hype the race of the victims when discussing any crime against Asians, they’re curiously silent about the race of the perpetrators,” the report continued. Just like with black on black homicides.
Now, if white supremacists are responsible for these attacks and other forms of harassment, then these groups are very progressive, since they are allowing a lot of black and brown-skinned folks into their ranks. That’s not what’s happening at all.
“Vicha Ratanapakdee, an 84-year-old San Francisco man of Thai descent, was on his routine morning walk in late January when a man in a hoodie charged in his direction and shoved him to the ground. Ratanapakdee was hospitalized and died two days later. Police identified and charged 19-year-old Antoine Watson for the crime. Watson, who pleaded not guilty, is black,” the Washington Examiner reported.
Another clip that surfaced back in January showed a 91-year-old man in the Chinatown section of Oakland, California being brutally assaulted. A man wearing a hoodie came up behind him and used both arms to push the man to the ground before the suspect walks away.
Denny Kim, 27, of Los Angeles was also the victim of a random attack by two individuals who he said ambushed him in the street. While they were beating him they called him “Chinese virus” and then said, “all f***ing Asians gotta die.” Police said the suspect is Hispanic.
“Also last month, an Asian man in New York was taken to the hospital in critical condition after being stabbed in the back with a butcher knife. The perpetrator later turned himself in to the police. I could only find a photo of him with a face mask, making it difficult to discern his race. I do know that his name is Salman Muflihi, probably not the sort of name you would expect a white supremacist to have,” the report added.
So maybe, if Sharpton wants to see these attacks stop, he should just condemn the attacks and call out the actual culprits guilty of these crimes instead of attempting to divide us further as Americans.
