Kevin McCarthy Says Pelosi Needs To Remove Omar From Foreign Affairs Committee

According to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi needs to give Rep. Ilhan Omar the boot from the Foreign Affairs Committee. And if she doesn’t take that course of action, Republicans will do it for her if they take back the House during the 2022 midterm election.

“This is an individual that has not once, but on numerous occasions, been anti-Semitic,” McCarthy said while having a conversation on Fox News’ “Fox and Friends.”

“Her own entire Congress had to rebuke her in (the) last one, but she’s not just anti-Semitic, she’s anti-American now and equating America to the Taliban, to Hamas,” he added.

Omar has been in a lot of hot water over the course of her time in Congress, mostly due to her anti-Semitic remarks and attitude. Just last week she caught flack after posting, “We have seen unthinkable atrocities committed by the U.S., Hamas, Israel, Afghanistan, and the Taliban,” on social media platform Twitter.

She has since offered a clarification, saying in a statement that her comments were misunderstood and that she had never made “a moral comparison between Hamas and the Taliban and the U.S. and Israel” and that she was “in no way equating terrorist organizations with democratic countries with well-established judicial systems,” reports The New York Times.

“I will promise you this: If we are fortunate enough to have the majority, Omar would not be serving on Foreign Affairs, or anybody that has an anti-Semitic, anti-American view,” McCarthy went on to say on Tuesday. “That is not productive, and that is not right.”

McCarthy did not directly threaten to force a vote to censure Omar or to kick her off the committee, but Republican leaders discussed the situation while meeting Monday and the matter is expected to be brought up again at a conference meeting today.

Pelosi on Sunday, while addressing the situation, insisted that House Democrats have not rebuked the Minnesota Democrat. She also called Omar a “valued member of our caucus” and said, “she clarified, we thanked her, end of subject.”

McCarthy went on to discuss his concern about President Joe Biden’s upcoming meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“America’s worse off because of Biden’s weakness,” McCarthy stated. “We’re actually a country in crisis. The families are concerned about crime, about costs, about competitiveness. If you’re sitting here drinking coffee today you’re paying more. If you’re eating the cereal, the milk costs more. If you get in your car and drive to work your gas costs more.”

McCarthy then noted that crime is also on the rise and the situation at the border has still not been brought under control.

“Fentanyl has increased by 300% and now we have a president who stopped America from being energy-independent (with the) Keystone XL pipeline but rewarded Putin with Nord Stream 2 to give Russia greater control over Europe,’ the House Minority Leader said. “We are currently in a crisis based on Biden’s weakness. Had he literally done nothing when he went into office, America would be stronger today.”
