Leftist D.C. Mayor Discouraged Additional Law Enforcement Ahead of January 6th, Then Turned on Them for Not Doing More

Written with contribution from Sheriff David Clarke

Notoriously far-left progressive Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser discouraged additional help from law enforcement ahead of the January 6th rally outside the U.S. Capitol only to turn around and criticize federal agents for not doing enough to maintain order.

That’s likely because none of this is about public safety to her, it’s all about optics and the narrative.

You can tell that by the way every leftist has taken this incident and run with it. It’s sickening to compare the way they responded to widespread, ongoing, significantly more violent and subversive riots over the summer to how they responded to Wednesday’s events.

“The District of Columbia Government has not requested personnel from any other federal law enforcement agencies,” Bowser wrote to acting U.S. Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen, acting Secretary of Defense Chris Miller, and Secretary of the Army Ryan D. McCarthy on Tuesday, The Blaze reports.

She also insisted that the Metropolitan Police Department was “prepared” to handle the demonstrations in cooperation with the U.S. Park Police, U.S. Capitol Police, and U.S. Secret Service.

“To be clear, the District of Columbia is not requesting other federal law enforcement personnel and discourages any additional deployment without immediate notification to, and consultation with, MPD if such plans are underway,” she continued.

In the letter, she pointed to “unidentified” federal agents who had “caused confusion” amid protests and riots in the city over the summer and these agents could pose a “national security threat” by impending MPD’s ability to discern between armed groups.

She was significantly less concerned about national security over the summer, let’s remember.

On Thursday, however, Bowser then turned on federal law enforcement yet again, this time for not being present enough.

Give me a break.

“We must also understand why the federal law enforcement response was much stronger [during the Black Lives Matter protests],” Bowser said, according to CBS News.

Now stand down orders given to police by commanders as BLM rioters as they looted and torched businesses and other government property is stronger than shooting and killing an unarmed Capital protester. I do not remember police killing any Antifa or BLM rioter.

That couldn’t have anything to do with the fact that the Black Lives Matter protests were exponentially more violent and chaotic, could it?

I’m sorry, I don’t remember the part where BLM protesters cleared quietly and peacefully out of Washington D.C. almost as soon as things got violent like the Trump supporters did on Wednesday, do you?

Didn’t think so.

“Obviously it was a failure or you would not have had police lines breached and people entering the building by breaking windows,” she said of the protesters who managed to breach the Capitol.

The Blaze notes that, “As the events unfolded Wednesday afternoon it quickly became clear that law enforcement were outmanned and under-equipped to handle the escalating situation.”

It was at this point that President Trump ordered the National Guard to be deployed to quell the chaos as members of Congress sheltered in place.

One woman was killed by Capitol Hill police and on Friday, a Capitol Hill police officer also died following injuries he had sustained on Wednesday. Four additional people died at the scene that day due to causes yet unknown as well.

The Blaze notes that Bowser’s letter was a request and not a directive, as she does not have any authority over federal forces like the Capitol Police.
