New Migrant Caravans From to Head to U.S. Southern Border

Written with contribution from Sheriff David Clarke

Two devastating hurricanes that caused widespread destruction and flooding across massive parts of Central America last month have made the number of families planning the dangerous trek to the US, skyrocket.

Newsmax reports that with “a year of travel bans and soaring unemployment, demand to reach the US was already high.”

“There are going to be caravans, and in the coming weeks it will increase,” said Jose Luis Gonzalez, coordinator of the non-governmental organization Guatemala Red Jesuita con Migrantes.

“People are no longer scared of the coronavirus. They’re going hungry, they’ve lost everything, and some towns are still flooded.”

The planned migrations come as the presidential election has seemingly been determined although skepticism about all the irregularities remain. Presumptive winner Joe Biden, however, has promised to get rid of many of the migration policies instituted by President Trump.

President Trump, with his policies, has attempted to deter illegal immigration whereas Joe Biden, if inaugurated, will surely open the floodgates.  Taking in a heavy influx of another country’s ne’er-do-wells many of whom will face a language barrier in addition to other limitations to finding employment is not just a questionable policy. It’s downright stupid.

Droves of Central Americans appear to be gearing up for the journey to test out Joe Biden’s administration if that’s who ends up in the White House.

“When there is a change in government in the U.S. or Mexico, caravans start to move because they are testing the waters to see how authorities respond,” he said. “What they see is that the one who said he was going to build a wall and hated Latinos is on his way out.”

Wait. Trump hates Latinos? Then how did he get 32% of the Hispanic vote? That is a 4% increase from his 2016 percent of Hispanic voters. Well, let’s not let facts get entered into that baseless opinion by the esteemed Luis Gonzalez.

Newsmax reports that announcements for caravans leaving San Pedro Sula, Honduras, are circulating on social media. San Pedro Sula is the second-largest city in Honduras and was brutally hit by both hurricanes.

The first caravan is scheduled to depart the city in the coming days and another in mid-January.

Biden’s advisers are saying that they hope to “shift away from Trump’s policies if they take office without signaling that the border has been flung open.” Newsmax also reports that his advisers “know that swift, sweeping changes will spur more people to attempt the journey to the US.”

“President-elect Joe Biden will restore order, dignity and fairness to our immigration system,” said Biden transition spokesman Ned Price, “At its core, his immigration policy will be driven by the need to keep families together and end the disastrous policy of family separation.”

Price is using coded language to say that Americans will once again become second class citizens in their own country. An already overburdened healthcare system along with budget-challenged local public school systems will be the victims of Biden’s idiotic immigration policy.

And another thing. The separation of families was a policy started by Barack Obama and Joe Biden. Trump ended it. Facts can be stubborn things.

A senior foreign ministry official for Mexico said migration is likely to continue to be one of the most challenging aspects of the US-Mexico relationship. The official further stated that Mexico will continue to promote cooperation with the US in addressing the root causes of illegal immigration as well as work with the US as partners in the region to curb it.

By the way: there are several countries that fleeing Hondurans can seek asylum in. Guatemala and Mexico stand between them and the United States.
