A new report from Breitbart News says that President Joe Biden’s pick to head up the Department of Health and Human Services, Attorney General of California Xavier Becerra, has some big plans that concern providing illegal aliens with healthcare benefits to be totally funded by taxpayer dollars.
Becerra has a well earned reputation for being an advocate of providing American healthcare to the 11 to 22 million illegal aliens who are currently residing on our side of the border. A report was recently published on Politico that stated folks close to Becerra are saying he’s very interested in pursuing some executive policy initiatives as HHS Secretary that would help provide illegal immigrants with healthcare.
Again, this healthcare would be paid with taxpayer dollars. That’s a very important part of this whole thing to note. There’s no such thing as a free lunch.
“But interviews with 15 Becerra friends, colleagues, and allies, as well as health care experts, suggest that health care for undocumented immigrants is an issue close to the heart of the 63-year-old son of a Mexican immigrant mother who, despite a diplomatic demeanor, can be forceful in pushing issues that align with his value system,” the Politico report said.
“A POLITICO review of his 24-year House career and four years as California attorney general found that Becerra has repeatedly advocated for undocumented immigrants to have more access to health care and other government benefits, whether through Medicaid or Obamacare,” the report added.
“’He’s one of those individuals that had exceedingly deep convictions about the need to cover the undocumented individuals in all of our communities,’ said former Rep. Charles Gonzalez (D-Texas), who worked with Becerra during the Obamacare debate. In the case of the health care bill, Gonzalez said, “It did not make any sense not to, as long as they went ahead and paid for the coverage,'” it said.
These are not “undocumented immigrants.” They are illegal aliens. Words matter here. “Undocumented” is a Democrat’s way of softening people’s view about illegal immigration. No doubt arrived after a focus group.
During the Obama administration, Becerra was one of the chief elected House Democrats that was pushing for Obamacare to be made open to illegal aliens. He has also watched his state of California as they have opened up healthcare benefits to illegal aliens as well.
How much would opening up healthcare to illegal aliens cost Americans? It’s estimated to cost anywhere between $23 billion to $66 billion every year, potentially racking up a bill of $660 billion for taxpayers every decade. Of course, the other big reason this is a horrific idea is that it would provide an extra incentive for others to come flooding into the country along the southern border “with serious health problems,” which local hospitals would have to cover the cost to treat.
Back in July of 2019 CNN polled U.S. voters and asked if they were in support of providing illegals with healthcare. Almost 6-in-10 said they were opposed to such an idea, which also included 63 percent of swing voters and 61 percent of folks who consider themselves “moderates.”
