According to a new report published by CNN, yes you read that correctly, the Biden administration actually stopped an investigation being run by the State Department to determine whether or not the coronavirus might have leaked from a lab in Wuhan.
Three sources revealed to CNN that this particular inquiry had been launched by the Trump administration, but was later stopped after Biden took over the White House due to concerns over the quality of the work being completed.
News of this investigation and it’s termination, neither of which had received any kind of news coverage, has come to light as interest in finding out if the virus came from a lab or occurred naturally has started to heat up.
CNN stated that the inquiry was started by a few allies of former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. The investigation was run mostly out of the State Department’s arms control and verification bureau.
Two other sources stated that the investigation was an honest, legitimate effort to find out if China’s biological weapons program might have played a bigger role in the creation of this pandemic.

Two additional sources said the inquiry was an honest effort to investigate whether China’s biological weapons program could have played a greater role in the pandemic’s origin in Wuhan.
However, the investigation quickly became stuck amid internal discord and concerns it was part of the Trump administration’s politicized effort to blame China.
A State Department spokesperson told CNN the decision to terminate the inquiry was made after Biden officials were briefed on the team’s draft findings in February and March.
“Even though this discrete project has concluded, the State Department continues to work with the interagency to look into the COVID origins issue,” a spokesperson stated.
One of the sources who is familiar with the decision went on to reveal that questions were being raised about the legitimacy of the investigation’s findings. The inquiry was also deemed to be a waste of resources.
Sources who worked for the Trump administration and were involved in the inquiry flat out rejected claims that their work was of poor quality. These individuals then told CNN that their objective for the project was to take a look at scientific research and information that was gathered by the intelligence community that supported the lab leak theory.
