Newt Gingrich Says COVID Has Exposed Who Leftist Leaders “Really Are”

Tyranny has come to America.

We have no one but ourselves to blame, at the end of the day, because over the last eight months, the vast majority of U.S. citizens have stood idly by as their governors impose wildly unconstitutional, vastly over-reaching measures to contain a virus with a 99.9% survivability rate.

They’ve closed churches, small businesses, forced you to wear a scrap of cloth on your face (does anyone remember when experts couldn’t even agree on whether masks were effective?), dramatically altered the voting process.

What is even more remarkable is that in this second wave of cases, we are having the same remedies shoved down our throats that didn’t work the first time in reducing the spread yet we confirm the status of experts on doctors and scientists who really don’t know what they are doing. No one has the courage to tell them however or poke holes in their diagnosis or ask for a second opinion.

At the most, Americans have complained on social media.

It’s not like we didn’t see this coming.

It’s not as though the left has been quiet about their increasingly totalitarian view of governance. It’s not as though they’ve hidden their contempt for our classical republican system or even classical liberalism while promoting wildly un-patriotic policy agendas that force you to pay for someone else’s healthcare or wage increase, label it “racist” to protect the integrity of elections, or propose completely dismantling our fossil fuel economy.

It’s not as though they haven’t been openly promoting socialism or calling for censorship of anyone who disagrees.

It’s not as if they don’t have their own version of the Nazi brownshirts causing chaos in the streets and intimidating, with threats of violence, anyone who disagrees with their demagoguery.

The left has given us every indication they’re fully committed to bringing tyranny to our shores, and it has arrived.

All the COVID pandemic did was to highlight this fact.

Former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich, told Just the News’ John Solomon this week that the pandemic has been leveraged by just such power-hungry leftists and in effect, revealed their true colors.

“If you’re a left-wing governor or a left-wing mayor like [New York City Mayor] deBlasio, COVID became the excuse to be who you really are. And it’s like the mask was dropped,” the former Republican congressman told Solomon on his podcast, John Solomon Reports.

Gingrich pointed to Michigan’s Governor Gretchen Whitmer, New York’s Governor Andrew Cuomo, and New Jersey’s Governor Phil Murphy, all of whom he characterized as “bad people” who “enjoy power,” “lie routinely” and “like coercion.”

“They like the sense that I’m the boss and you’re not,” he charged.

He noted the marked shift from the law being meant to protect Americans into “the law is hunting you and the law wants to destroy you.”

What is sad is that GOP lawmakers have offered no resistance on our behalf.
