Oregon DOE Promotes Program to Help Teachers “Dismantle Racism in Mathematics,” Views Objectivity as Part of “Whiteness”

There’s a very disturbing trend among only the wokest and most disassociated from reality adherents to critical race theory that objectivity is itself, racist.

Think I’m kidding? This is literally what they say. Remember that bizarre “whitness” poster put out by the Smithsonian that characterized things like individuality, the scientific method, and the nuclear family as somehow owned exclusively by Caucasians?

Some might say this in itself is abhorrently and sickeningly racist, and perhaps if those perpetuating this garbage themselves spent more time with people of color from a wider array of backgrounds, they’d find that strong families, objective scientific research, and a sense of individual liberty are in no way exclusive to white people.

Anyway, this steaming pile of thinly-veiled racism also characterized “objective, rational linear thinking” as associated with “whiteness,” which is in itself a mind-blowingly subjective statement to make (as if there is an objective definition of whiteness?! This is getting to be too much).

You know your philosophy is covering up for some major logical flaws when you literally demean “objective, rational linear thinking.”

So naturally, math is in the crosshairs of this twisted ideology as well.

The Oregon Department of Education is now promoting a program for teachers that aims to (say it with me now) “disman[tle] racism in mathematics,” the Daily Wire reports, as naturally they assume that math, which is by nature inherently objective, supports white supremacy.

According to Fox News, the “Pathway to Math Equity Micro-Course” set to kick off this week will provide middle school teachers (Lord help us) with the tools they need to end all racism by promoting CRT instead of algebra, apparently.

Objectivity is described in the workbook accompanying the training as “the belief that there is such a thing as being objective or ‘neutral.’” The program’s toolkit also encourages teachers not to focus on a single correct answer, but to “come up with at least two answers that might solve this problem” and to “Challenge standardized test questions by getting the ‘right’ answer, but justify other answers by unpacking the assumptions that are made in the problem.”

The toolkit also asks instructors to “center ethnomathematics” in multiple ways, one of which is to “identify and challenge the ways that math is used to uphold capitalist, imperialist, and racist views.”

Words to not describe the gravity of cognitive dissonance we’re looking at here—and yet this crap continues to take hold of the mainstream.

Our nation is in dire intellectual straits.
