The Trump administration has rooted out several Chinese programs being used in the United States for no purpose other than spreading Chinese Communist Party propaganda.
Five cultural exchange programs have been identified and ended by the Trump administration after they were discovered to be reportedly used solely for Chinese propaganda and were contributing no benefit to the United States.
The Western Journal reports that the terminations come after new visa restrictions were announced by Washington that limit stays in the US by members of the CCP. The new time limits for CCP members and their families cuts the period in which their travel documents are valid from 10 years to 1 month.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo reported that the exchange programs he brought to an end “were fully paid for and operated by the Chinese government ‘as soft power propaganda tools.’”
Pompeo said in a statement Friday that the programs provided “carefully curated access to Chinese Communist Party officials, not to the Chinese people, who do not enjoy freedoms of speech and assembly.”
The US State Department ended the Policymakers Educational China Trip Program, the US-China Friendship Program, the US-China Leadership Exchange Program, the US-China Transpacific Exchange Program and the Hong Kong Educational and Cultural Program.
Pompeo did, however, say that the US welcomes “the reciprocal and fair exchange of cultural programs” with China and the mutually beneficial ones will continue.
As tensions between the US and China have escalated because of China’s human rights abuses, the coronavirus pandemic, technology, Hong Kong, and many other issues, President Trump’s administration has taken a number of tough measures against the communist country.
This is quite different from the approach a “President” Joe Biden would take on China which could result in China attempting “dangerous” things against the US since they would not fear him like they fear President Trump. The are undoubtedly counting the days until January 20, 2021.
China expert Gordon Chang told Fox News’ Tucker Carlson “They’re going to push a President Biden around,” adding, “They’re going to do things which are dangerous, because we’re going to have to push back. Under President Trump, the Chinese didn’t try this because they were afraid of him. So what I’m concerned about is the state of mind of China … This is dangerous.”
Chang was saying this in reaction to a November 28 video of a lecture by Renmin University professor Di Dongsheng, in which he boasted that China has been able to “‘fool the United States’ through their ties to political and business leaders.”
Chang confirmed what Dongsheng boasted of is true, saying “that China does have that relationship into what he calls the core circle of America’s real power.”
Oh boy.
